Result Coaching
The Result Coaching system is not a religion, philosophy or a set of instructions, rules or guidelines for living. The Result coaching system does not tell you how to live, how to think, or how to act. The coach will facilitate a conversation and allow conversation to unfold in a certain way that is beneficial to the coachee.
The Result Coaching is not therapy
Coaching is focused on where you are now, where you want to be and what you are doing to get there. Coaching is about moving forward, not analyzing the past. Coaching looks at the “how” and not “why”.
Coaching does not try and solve people’s personal problems or issues, though sometimes they get solved along the way. It is not just solution focused, it is also very action based: helping people come to solutions and also helping them to take committed actions.
The Result Coaching is not consulting
In result coaching we don’t give advice—unless highly appropriate. Even then, they help people to make choices between ideas rather than telling people what they should do. A consultant does the job for you whereas a coach supports you to do the job better yourself.
A coach does not need to know everything about an area to coach a coachee in it. In fact, we tend to be better coaches when we know just a little about an area rather than a lot.
The Result Coaching is not Training
Result coaching does not have a pre-set curriculum to follow; the coach does not have information to be imparted to the coachee. There are no coach driven outcomes-only the goals that the coachee sets.
Just as every brain is different, coaching is a different experience for each and every coachee.
The Result Coaching is not Mentoring
Mentoring tends to be focused closely on Career development. Coaching is far broader and is applicable to any area of life. Coaching has more structure than mentoring such as defined goals and sessions. The coach is also willing to stretch and challenge a coachee more than a mentor would.
Mentoring is giving people advice based on his experience. A coach, conversely, does not even need specific information about their coachee’s area of expertise to coach them.
Result Coaching Conversational Model
The RCCM starts with the coachee developing an awareness of an impasse or issue that they would like to resolve but can’t seem to on their own. The coach will then facilitate a conversation through which coachee develops insights into his thinking about a solution.
